Novice To Advanced Intensive Persian Language and Culture Courses
These intensive 8-unit courses are designed to teach language skills and cultural awareness to three different levels from Novice to Advanced. Students learn & expand their four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing of the Persian language through conversations, games, written homework and Iranian movies. Literary and Colloquial Persian are introduced and used from the beginning. This course satisfies the language requirement at SDSU and other campuses.
Intensive Persian Language & Culture Distinguished Level Courses
This intensive 6-unit course’s goal is to advance highly proficient learners of Persian (ACTFL Advanced High/Superior/ ILR2+ to 3+ DLPT 3) along the road to ultimate achievement of Distinguished/IRL 4 linguistic and cultural skills. This is the level required to use Persian competently in professional capacities. Cohorts are divided into two groups, according to their level, and instruction is tailored to meet specific student-needs following the course requirements.

Persian Culture Course
Students explore the Persian culture and civilization with the emphasis on present day Iran. This course helps students gain knowledge of most important cultural topics via a multi-disciplinary approach that includes art, politics, religion, and rituals. The goal is to help students be able to interpret the current events in relation to the knowledge they have acquired in this course.
Four-level Persian Textbook with Audio/Video Resources
Instructional textbooks are being written for different level Persian language courses. These books are organized by topics introducing various aspects of Iranian society. All materials are authentic, and written for use by Iranian readers, and are not edited to tailor the pedagogy of the language. Activities, developed based on the communicative method, address all skills and follow the 5 “C’s” of the National Foreign Language Standards: 1) Communication, 2) Cultures, 3) Connections, 4) Comparisons, and 5) Communities. Audio materials accompany each book.
Persian School of San Diego
This project consists of material development for heritage students of the Iranian School living in San Diego. Authentic materials are organized by cultural topics offering task- based language instruction. Activities are developed based on the communicative method, address all skills and follow the 5 “C’s” of the National Foreign Language Standards: 1) Communication, 2) Cultures, 3) Connections, 4) Comparisons, and 5) Communities.
Persian Teacher Training
Persian teacher training provides teachers with knowledge, attitudes, behaviors and skills required to perform effectively in language classrooms. The instructional goals help heritage students of Persian increase their language proficiency and expand their cultural awareness.

The Persian Culture Box provides cultural insight via series of videos discussing different events and artifacts.
