LARC’s staff is comprised of a dynamic, energetic and talented group of people responsible for getting numerous projects off the ground, keeping them going, and seeing them to completion. Please take some time to get to know us.

Mary Ann Lyman-Hager – Director

Mary Ann Lyman-Hager has served as the Director of the national Language Resource Center at San Diego State University and as Professor of French at San Diego State University since 1997.

Chris Brown – Associate Managing Director

Chris is currently working to complete his PhD in Spanish
Literature and has been a teacher of Spanish at the university level for
more than a decade.  Chris is directly involved with all LARC programs, with additional focus on those projects deriving from the Critical Language Immersion Program (CLIP).

Raquel Cardoso – Administrative Services and Personnel Coordinator

Raquel Cardoso is our current office manager, who assists management and
program managers with all aspects of administrative detail. She also
plays a major role in LARC’s Personnel and Payroll Management.   She
started her LARC career in 2005 and since them has been a great asset to
LARC.  Raquel originally is from Tijuana, Mexico, but has lived in San
Diego since very young.

Lina Hariri-Hajj – Project Specialist & Publications Designer

Lina Hariri-Hajj is a project specialist who assists in coordinating LARC’s Arabic program. She is also the graphic designer responsible for LARC’s publications and brochures. In the community she has served as Vice Principal of the Arabic Learning Center of San Diego for 6 years. Beyond LARC’s marketing materials, she is also designing “Arabic Language Through Dialogue” books.

Mike Pasamonik is a software engineer who writes and maintains applications such as LARC’s Computer Assisted Screening Tool (CAST). He also assists the LARC Language Labs with his wide technical knowledge and expertise.

Dr. Hanada Taha-Thomure – Arabic Program Director & Lead Instructor

Dr. Taha-Thomure earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of New Orleans in 2001. She holds a a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the American University of Beirut.
