Ms. Areana Chen

Chinese Lead Instructor

Areana Chen Ms. Areana Chen has received her B.A. degree in Medicine from JinanUniversity, Canton, China, and a Master of Science in Experimental Medicine from the University of Alberta, Canada. Ms. Chen has experience in implementing world language pedagogy. She is a fellow of California World Language Project (CWLP), ACTFL trained and she prepares and conducts CSET preparation workshops for Mandarin Chinese teachers. Ms. Chen has been the Chinese Language Group Lead in the STARTALK teacher training programs at LARC since 2013.
She has experience working with high school students. For over 16 years she has been teaching K-12 public school students, and for about six years, adult students through intensive courses in the United States, at different proficiency levels. In addition to that she is the director of North America Chinese Education Service, and since 2011 she has been the College Board Certified AP Chinese Language and Culture instructor. In 2013, she was the honored speaker in South California Chinese School Association Teacher Conference.
