Welcome to the STARTALK Portuguese Student Camp at San Diego State University!

HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF LEARNING PORTUGUESE?

The Language Acquisition Resource Center at San Diego State University is delighted to announce a four-week Portuguese STARTALK summer program. The program is open to 12 motivated students in grades 9–12 with no prior knowledge of the language.

While at the program, you will gain insight into Portuguese-speaking cultures while learning to communicate in the Portuguese language as spoken in Brazil. You will practice communicating in Portuguese through a variety of fun, engaging, and meaningful, activities while learning about the life of young people your age in Brazil. In addition to being immersed in the language, you will also participate in a variety of cultural activities that will deepen your understanding and appreciation of the Portuguese-speaking cultures.

Upon successful completion, all students will be awarded four units of undergraduate college credit through the SDSU College of Extended Studies. For more information, check out our FAQ page.

And if you’re still wondering “why Portuguese” check out some of the reasons you may want to give it a try this summer!
